TEACHINGKEYS

Enhancing Your Natural Teaching Strengths

Learning will take place to the extent that the unique learning styles of the students and the unique teaching style of the gifted teacher are engaged.

Our TeachingKeys™ is a programme that focuses primarily on self-discovery strategies before going in-depth into teaching methodologies. This programme utilizes a unique strength-based approach that allows educators to recognize, appreciate and capitalize on their natural learning and teaching strengths to make learning more enjoyable for students with diverse learning propensities.

About The Programme

What is it?

TeachingKeys™ consists of three components that are crucial in allowing a teacher/educator to recognize, appreciate and maximize their natural learning and teaching strengths. This programme includes profiling exercises to identify a certain individual’s propensity or ‘style’ and how they can utilize their strengths to the fullest, while minimizing limitations.

  • Personality Style
  • (Communication and Motivation Preferences)
  • Perceptual Learning Style
  • (Learning Preferences)
  • Cognitive Thinking Style
  • (Thinking Preferences)

TEACHINGKEYS™ Principle

  • Every individual has their own natural strengths and limitations
  • Individuals who operate in their areas of strengths tend to be more motivated in what they do
  • Individuals who can recognise their strengths sooner will be better equipped to make life’s most critical decisions in ways that suit them best
  • Strengths can be discovered, developed and optimally maximized to boost productivity
  • Teachers who teach according to student’s individual learning strengths (i.e. natural learning preferences), may find that their students will retain more information and increase their understanding of their subject matter, while being more motivated to learn.

Question 1: Unveiling Personal Strengths and Career Direction

Students are given a preliminary assessment to help them understand where they currently stand. Possessing a strong sense of where they are heading and having an awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses will enable the students to create and attain a realistic career progression plan. This component is aimed at nurturing students’ self-awareness on their personal strengths and how they fit together with their passion and aspirations.

Question 2: Creating Your Personal Brand, Talents, Skills, Values and Interests

We need to have clarity about our Personal Brand, which consists of our identity and unique qualities that can be used as a base to chart our career path. The aim of this component is to direct students towards discovering their personal brand and how they can successfully use this to excel in their ideal career. Students will also discover their internal motivators that drive their personal decisions.

Students will also get to apply their understanding of personality styles to find careers to match their natural tendencies. This will be done using tools like DISCInsights™ Personality System, the Career Choice Workbook, Values Clarification exercises and the Ministry of Education’s eCareers portal.

Question 3: Setting Goals & Making Plans

Upon getting a clearer understanding of their personal branding and direction, we will guide them to make feasible action plans in chasing their career goals. The students will be made aware of the academic grades as pre-requisites of their individually-set goals.
