The strain in finding the right candidate for that position in your company is pressuring and stressful. From going through dozens of resumes to shortlisting the candidates for interview, there are not telling that the candidate is the right one for the position.
Why getting it right the first time matters? Imagine the amount of effort, training and mentoring spent and to find out that the candidate is not the right fit. The opportunity cost from spent time in to mentoring the candidate is of the biggest lost, when the hiring failed.
There are only very limited resources that we could access from the resumes. However, information such as would the job scope match to the personality of the employee, what thinking style the employee has to bring to the team and his or her values that driven the employee’s motivation.
“Hiring is difficult”, this is what I was told by a business owner recently. He lamented that his manager of one year with him had left the company and he had to go through hiring process again when we should be focusing on expanding his business.
Of course we would always want to hire those with excellent experiences and skills, however do these candidates fit to the position that you require? Giving an example, H Company was looking to hire a Guest Service Relation Officer. The company had shortlisted three potential candidates, and decided to use the DISC profiling tool. Candidates profiling will be compared to the benchmark requirement needed for the position, and the reports describe the strengths of each candidates and their limitations towards the position offered.
By identifying a personality style, through DISC we become aware that certain styles suit certain occupations. By selecting the correct career match individuals are typically more satisfied, productive and creative. Recent study shows that there is a spike in using behavioral assessment for hiring, as employers are getting preemptive to hiring the right candidate.
So why use DISC assessment tools, when there are many other behavioral tools out there? Simply DISC is straightforward, with only four main styles to remember which are Dominant, Influence, Steadfast and Conscientious.
